Heritage and cultural sites in Hope — what do they mean to the community and how should they be preserved?

I’ve been exploring more of Hope lately and was surprised by how much history this small town holds. The old churches, the wooden carvings downtown, even the museum — they all give the place a really special vibe. But I sometimes worry that newer developments might overshadow those cultural spots. Do people here get involved in preserving them? Or is it mostly handled by the town council and local groups?

That’s a great point. I’ve lived here for years, and it’s definitely a mix of both — locals and small organizations put in a lot of effort to keep that heritage alive. There’s pride in the town’s history, especially with places tied to the early settlers and Indigenous roots. Some of the local businesses in Hope, BC even participate in heritage events or sponsor small restoration projects. It’s not flashy, but it really helps keep those landmarks part of everyday life.
